Dancing with the Stars Season 11 Cast Rumors

If you are a fan of the ABC reality television program Dancing with the Stars then you are probably pretty anxious for the new season to begin.  Season 11 premiers on ABC on September 20, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The official announcement of the cast will happen on August 30, 2010 during the ABC show Bachelor Pad.  However, there are a number of rumors circulating on the internet about what celebrities and personalities might appear in the cast.  Here are some of the names that have been thrown out there as possible Season 11 contestants for Dancing with the Stars. 

Actors and actresses have appeared on Dancing with the Stars since the first season aired in June, 2005.  Some actors and actresses who have appeared in previous seasons include Cloris Leachman, Steve Guttenberg, Jane Seymour, Marlee Matlin, and Lisa Rinna.

Here are some names of actors and actresses being put out there as potential contestants in the upcoming season of the show.

David Hasselhoff.  Hasselhoff first gained fame as Michael Knight in the 1980’s television series Knight Rider, even though he began his acting career in the 1970’s with a role on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless.  He later reached superstar status with his role in the syndicated television series Baywatch.  Hasselhoff also served as a judge on the NBC reality television program America’s Got Talent. 

Betty White.  This well loved actress has starred on a number of hit television series including The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls.  She is currently starring on the TV Land television show Hot in Cleveland.

BernNadette Stanis.  Stanis is most recognized for her role as middle child Thelma Evans on the 1970’s era sitcom Good Times.  She has appeared as a guest star on other television shows including The Cosby Show, Girlfriends, and What’s Happening Now!!

Lee Meriwether.  Meriwether is a former Miss America (1955), but who might be best known for her role as Catwoman on the television series Batman.  She also starred in the 1970’s television series Barnaby Jones.

Morgan Fairchild.  Fairchild is an actress who got her first television role in the 1970’s on the soap opera Search for Tomorrow.  Fairchild is a Golden Globe nominated actress, having received the nomination for her role on Flamingo Road.

Reality television personalities have made regular appearances on the show since season 1, when Bachelorette contestant Trista Sutter danced with professional partner Louis Van Amstel. Other reality television personalities who have taken part in the show include Melissa Rycroft, Kim Kardashian, Holly Madison, and Kelly Osbourne.

The following reality television personalities have been rumored to be part of the season 11 cast of Dancing with the Stars.

Jon Gosselin. Gosselin is the ex-husband of season 10 Dancing with the Stars contestant Kate Gosselin. He was featured in the TLC reality television series Jon and Kate + 8.

Sig Hansen. Hansen is captain of the fishing vessel Northwestern and appears in the reality television series Deadliest Catch.

Teresa Giudice. Giudice can be seen in the Bravo television reality program Real Housewives of New Jersey.

Ali Fedotowsky. Fedotowsky is the most recent Bachelorette from the ABC reality television series The Bachelorette.

Vienna Girardi. Girardi is the former fiancée of Jake Pavelka, the most recent Bachelor from the ABC program The Bachelor. Pavelka competed during season 10 of Dancing with the Stars and Girardi was in the audience each week. She and Pavelka danced together during the season 10 finale.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. “The Situation” is a cast member of the MTV reality television program Jersey Shore.

Athletes have been part of the Dancing with the Stars cast from the beginning and usually do really well.  Several champions of Dancing with the Stars have been athletes, including Emmitt Smith, Kristi Yamagucci and Shawn Johnson.  Other athletes who have appeared include Jerry Rice, Warren Sapp, Misty May-Treanor, Maurice Green and Chad Ochocinco.

The following athletes have been rumored to be part of the Dancing with the Stars season 11 cast.

Johnny Weir.  Weir is an Olympic figure skater and a three time US national figure skating champion.  There were rumors that he was going to appear as part of the cast of season 10 but changed his mind based on the rest of the cast (and it wasn’t because of Evan Lysacek).

Kurt Warner.  Warner is a retired NFL quarterback.  Warner played with the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.  He was named Super Bowl MVP for Super Bowl XXXIV.

Troy Aikman.  Aikman is also a retired NFL quarterback, having played his entire career with the Dallas Cowboys.  He is a member of the Hall of Fame and is now a commentator for Fox Sports.  This rumor was supposedly started when Aikman said he would be competing on Dancing with the Stars, but he has since retracted that statement saying he was just kidding.

Landon Donovan.  Donovan is an American soccer player who currently competes for the Los Angeles Galaxy.  He is considered by many to be the best US soccer player of all time.

Dominique Moceanu.  Moceanu is an American gymnast.  She won the Olympic gold medal in 1996 as a member of the US women’s team.

Kurt Angle.  Angle won a gold medal in the 1996 Olympics.  He is currently a professional wrestler under contract with Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling.

Shelly Martinez.  Martinez is a professional wrestler who is known as Ariel in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) - ECW brand and as Salinas with TNA Wrestling. 
 

Joey McIntyre, from New Kids on the Block, was the first musician to appear on the show. He competed in season 1. Since that time musicians have made up part of each season’s cast. Some musicians that have competed on the show in previous seasons include Wayne Newton, Donny Osmond, Drew Lachey, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lance Bass and season 10 winner Nicole Scherzinger.

The following names are being mentioned as possible contestants for season 11 of Dancing with the Stars.

Xzibit. Xzibit is the stage name of Alvin Nathaniel Joiner IV. Xzibit is a rapper and is also the host of the MTV series Pimp My Ride.

Cheryl Cole. Cole is a British singer/songwriter. There are rumors that she is dating Dancing with the Stars professional Derek Hough. If she were to appear on the show (and partner with Derek) it would not be unprecedented. Country music star Chuck Wicks appeared in Season 8 of the show and danced with then girlfriend Julianne Hough.

Danny Gokey. Gokey is a singer and came to fame as a contestant during Season 8 of the Fox reality television show American Idol.

Throughout the years on Dancing with the Stars there are always the contestants that don’t fall into a specific category. For the purposes of this article I will classify them as “other personalities.” Previous cast members who fall into this category include American astronaut Buzz Aldrin, newscaster Giselle Fernandez, celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito and sports commentator Kenny Mayne.

Vera Wang. Wang is a fashion designer probably best known for her spectacular wedding gowns. Vera Wang gowns have been worn by famous brides such as Chelsea Clinton, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez and Ivanka Trump.

Oksana Grigorieva. Grigorieva is the ex-girlfriend of actor Mel Gibson. She has been in the news lately because of allegations of abuse in her relationship with Gibson.

Arianny Celeste. Celeste is a UFC ring girl (octagon girl) and model.

Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi is currently the Speaker of the House of Representatives for the United States. If Pelosi were to appear on the show it would be unprecedented. Tom DeLay is a politician who did appear on the show during season 9 but he was not actively serving in the US House of Representatives. This rumor is probably just that, but it would certainly make things interesting if Pelosi were to appear on the show.

Rachel Uchitel. Uchitel is a night club manager, but gained notoriety as one of Tiger Woods’ mistresses.

So who will be part of the season 11 cast of Dancing with the Stars?  ABC usually keeps the cast close to the vest until the official announcement.  No matter who appears on the show, I will be tuning in on September 20th to watch my favorite reality television show.

I’ve been online again, researching for new rumored Dancing with the Stars cast members. Some new names I’ve read: actress Kirstie Alley, singers Michael Bolton and Brandy Norwood, and Audrina Patridge from the MTV show The Hills.

I'm not-so-patiently waiting for the cast announcement on Monday.

I was on Yahoo! this morning and found even more names being rumored to be part of the show: Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, actress Jennifer Grey (best known as Baby in the movie Dirty Dancing), actress Florence Henderson (Carol Brady from The Brady Bunch), former NBA player Rick Fox, and comedienne Margaret Cho.

Very, very interesting! Florence Henderson is always in the audience so that's not such a shocker. Bristol Palin? This is interesting because really her only claim to celebrity is being the daughter of a former Vice Presidential candidate.

The official cast announcement has been made by ABC.  Here are the celebrities we'll see when the show returns on September 20th.
