The celebrity cast has been announced for season 13 of Dancing with the Stars. The latest installment of the hit ABC reality television show is set to start on Monday, September 19th at 8:00 pm Eastern Time. Here are the couples you will be able to watch when you tune in for the premier episode.
David Arquette and Kym Johnson. This actor, writer and director is probably best known for his work in the Scream movie franchise and for his estrangement from his wife Courtney Cox. He is set to dance with professional partner Kym Johnson.
Ron Artest and Peta Murgatroyd. Ron Artest is a professional basketball player and a current member of the Los Angeles Lakers. He won the NBA championship with the team in 2010. An interesting note about Artest is that he has filed a legal petition to change his name to Metta World Peace. Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars marks the first time professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd will compete. She was a member of the DWTS Troupe during season 12.
Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer. Author and activist Chaz Bono is set to dance with Lacey Schwimmer. If any professional is up to the challenge of dancing with Chaz it is Lacey. Chaz will most likely be subject to much criticism (fairly of his dancing and unfairly about his personal life) because of his well known status as a transgender individual.
Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy. Italian model and actress Elisabetta Canalis is paired up with Val Chmerkovskiy. Val (brother of show professional Maks) has performed on Dancing with the Stars many times in the past, but Season 13 marks his first stint as a regular professional competitor.
Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas. Best known for her role on the MTV reality television show The Hills, Kristin Cavallari is set to dance with Mark Ballas on Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars. Cavallari had been rumored to be a part of the cast several times in the past.
Nancy Grace and Tristian MacManus. Nancy Grace is a former prosecutor and current host of her own nightly show on CNN. She is a tireless victims’ rights advocate and all of her earnings from the show will go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She is paired up with first time pro Tristian MacManus. Trisitan first joined DWTS last season as a member of the Troupe, but now he has the chance to show his mettle as a professional partner to a celebrity.
Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke. Rob Kardashian’s claim to fame is as the brother of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian. Oh, and he’s also a model.
Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya. Carson Kressley is a television personality and celebrity stylist. He’s appeared on numerous television shows but is probably best known for his Emmy-award winning role on the Bravo television reality show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. His costumes and styling with professional partner Cheryl Burke will most likely be fantastic!
Ricki Lake and Derek Hough. Ricki Lake is a daytime talk show host and actress, with her breakout role in the original Hairspray movie. Derek Hough makes his return to Dancing with the Stars as her professional partner. Having Derek as a partner will automatically put her in the category of contender for winning the mirror ball trophy.
J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff. J.R. Martinez is an Iraqi War veteran. He survived when the vehicle he was riding in went over a landmine. He suffered burns over more than 40 percent of his body and smoke inhalation. Now he plays a veteran on the ABC soap opera All My Children.
Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovoloni. Chynna Phillips is a singer, songwriter and actress. Daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Pappas Chynna is probably best known for her role in the pop group Wilson Phillips. She is married to actor William Baldwin.
Hope Solo and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Hope Solo is a member of the US Women’s National Soccer Team and considered by many to be the best goalie in the world. She is paired up with Maks Chmerkovskiy, a professional dancer that has worked with world class athletes in past seasons of Dancing with the Stars.
Season 13 of Dancing with the Stars begins on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 8:00 pm Eastern Time on ABC. All twelve of the couples will dance that evening. Tune in right at 8:00 pm as the action is sure to start right away.
